The Evidence Bible

The Evidence Bible: Rather than offend homosexuals by directly confronting the issue of their sinful lifestyle, modern evangelism often tries to soften the approach by saying that "God hates the sin, but loves the sinner." This isn’t a new concept.

What are the causes and solutions for a hardened heart?

What are the causes and solutions for a hardened heart?: " To better understand the causes and solutions for a hardened heart, it’s important to understand the broad biblical meaning of the word “heart.” The Bible considers the heart to be the hub of human personality, producing the things we would ordinarily ascribe to the “mind.”"

In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley - In Touch - Feb. 22, 2010 - Christian Devotional: "Do you feel ill equipped to serve the Lord? A sense of inadequacy is one of the many excuses people use to avoid ministering for Him, but it is not a valid one. Failing to follow His call has three consequences: 1) we hinder God's work on earth, 2) we miss a blessing for obedience, and 3) we lose out on rewards in heaven."

The Rebelution: The Marks of Manhood: by Albert Mohler

The Rebelution: The Marks of Manhood: by Albert Mohler: "When does a boy become a man? The answer to this must go far beyond biology and chronological age. As defined in the Bible, manhood is a functional reality, demonstrated in a man’s fulfillment of responsibility and leadership. With this in mind, let me suggest thirteen marks of biblical manhood. The achievement of these vital qualities marks the emergence of a man who will demonstrate true biblical masculinity."

On The Box: The Danger of the Modern Gospel
In the video you are about to watch you will meet Jason. Jason is a student at Cerritos College. A couple of weeks ago, after Ray Comfort preached the gospel to members of the school's football team, Jason stood up in an overt attempt to undermine the message Ray had preached. Jason's message: "You can be president, someday."

On The Box: Another Look at the Parachute Analogy
Many of you are familiar with the Parachute Analogy developed by Ray Comfort. I love it, and I use it often when articulating to a lost person the difference between intellectual assent to the truths about Jesus Christ, and genuine trust and faith. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the analogy, it goes like this:

For the Jews I Became Jewish, Part 2

For the Jews I Became Jewish, Part 2: "When Paul wrote, “To the Jews I became as a Jew … to those who are under the Law, as under the Law” (1 Corinthians 9:20), he was not talking about accommodating the message. He was simply saying he would not jeopardize his ability to preach the message by unnecessarily offending people."

For the Jews I Became Jewish, Part 1: "As we noted in the last post, Paul was not advocating “contextualization” when he wrote to the Corinthians, “I have become all things to all men, that I may be all means save some.” He was calling for self-denial and sacrifice for the sake of reaching unbelievers with the gospel."

On The Box: Mars Hill Is More Greek Than Christian
It's seems anticlimactic, even redundant, to say, "This time Rob Bell and Mars Hill Church have gone too far." After all, Bell makes a habit of going too far--too far away from orthodoxy to be considered evangelical in any true sense of the word. But, if what has been reported on Twitter by Rob Bell's teaching pastor, Shane Hipps, is true, then maybe it's time to say just that. Rob Bell, Shane Hipps, and Mars Hill have gone too far.

On The Box: "Jeremiah is often referred to as the "weeping prophet." His prophetic ministry to the nation of Judah spanned some forty years--from the reign of King Josiah (627 B.C.), beyond the time of the destruction of Jerusalem (586 B.C.). And during that four decades of heralding the words of the Lord, Jeremiah was heckled regularly and he did not see even one of his countrymen repent to God."

Servants of a New Covenant: "“All things belong to us, and we are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.” Paul made that tremendous, seemingly unqualified promise to the Corinthians (1 Cor. 3:21–23). Christians are free. Yet there is a paradox that balances that truth."

Liberty in Christ

Liberty in Christ: "It is crucial that you understand the nature of Christian liberty. As a Christian, you are not under law, but under grace (Rom. 6:14). Freedom from the law certainly does not mean that the principles of righteousness revealed in the Old Testament law are now nullified. It does not mean that the Ten Commandments have no application to your present life. It does not mean that you can subjugate God’s holy standards to personal preference. It obviously does not mean you are free from any moral requirements."

On The Box: Evangelist: God Does Not 'Need' You

On The Box: Evangelist: God Does Not 'Need' You: How often do we as Christians assert that the Word of God is powerful? Yet how often do we as Christians live as if it is not? How often do we as evangelists assert that the gospel is the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16)? Yet how often do we as evangelists conduct our evangelism efforts as if the gospel somehow needs our help--the help of our methodologies or, from time to time, what some might consider outright gimmickry?

Greg Laurie Daily Devotions - Greg Laurie Daily Devotion - Oct. 9, 2007 - Christian Devotional: "The human heart is like receptive soil to the seed of the Word of God. Jesus used this analogy in the parable of the sower (see Mark 4:3–20). The soil that the seed fell on represents four categories of hearers’ hearts, four different reactions to the Word of God: the hard heart, the shallow heart, the crowded heart, and the fruitful heart."

On The Box

On The Box: "John 17, commonly referred to as "The High Priestly Prayer," can be rightly divided into three major parts. In verses 1-5, Jesus prays for Himself. In verses 6-19, Jesus prays for His closest earthly friends--the apostles. And in verses 20-26, Jesus prays for every person who would ever know Him as Lord and Savior. In this remarkable prayer, the Creator allows the pinnacle of His creation (mankind) to have a brief and poignant glimpse of direct communication within the Godhead, as the Son speaks to the Father."
