Proverbs 16 in Poetry
Proverbs 16 in Poetry: "The Proverbs are already poetry, but they were
written in Hebrew, and the Hebrews did not use rhyme like we do in our
culture. So to make them seem like real poetry, I have attempted to sum
up the gist of each proverb with a typical American poem of rhyme.
Sometimes they are almost like commentary, and they give a good meaning
to the words of Solomon. Other times they are not so clear, and so you need
to wait for the commentary to get a more accurate meaning. The first one
is a good example of uncertainty of meaning."

Leonidas, king of Sparta in 480 B.C. held a horde of 200,000 Persians at
Thermopylae pass with 10,000 valiant soldiers. A trader led the Persians by a secret
passage to their rear, and Leonidas saw that he was trapped. Most of his men were
set free to flee the trap while he and 300 fought until they were all dead."

Emma Hart Willard founded the first permanent institution of higher learning
for women in America. None of the usual courses for women were even offered.
There were no cooking or needle work classes. Instead, she offered zoology,
geometry, trigonometry, and other subjects thought to be beyond the grasp of the
female mind. She was convinced that the female mind, if given a chance, could be
equal to the male mind.
