On The Box: Words of Comfort: Reading the Bible Through a Year: "I guess my Bible reveals that I believe in regularly opening its pages. I have been a Christian for more than 40 years and never once have I gone a day without reading the Scriptures. As a new Christian I thought that was normal for every believer. I was wrong. So for many years I have encouraged Christians to say, "No Bible, no breakfast; no read, no feed," so that they can stand on the wonderful promises of Psalm One. It is with this thought in mind that I would like you to join me in reading the Bible through in a year."

Surely there are regulations that would stop a car maker from copying the shape of a Lamborghini or a Volkswagen Beetle. Speaking of copyright. Is gambling a sin? What does the Bible say about gambling?
Is gambling a sin? What does the Bible say about gambling?: "Answer: The Bible does not specifically condemn gambling, betting, or the lottery. The Bible does warn us, however, to stay away from the love of money (1 Timothy 6:10; Hebrews 13:5). Scripture also encourages us to stay away from attempts to “get rich quick” (Proverbs 13:11; 23:5; Ecclesiastes 5:10). Gambling most definitely is focused on the love of money and undeniably tempts people with the promise of quick and easy riches."

And while it's difficult to watch a coordinated, well-funded, well-connected propaganda strategy undermine thousands of years of human history, it's especially disconcerting to witness the use of the civil rights struggle as the vehicle for the strategy."

First, be sure you are respectful to your employer and set a good example in your work ethic by working “as to the Lord” (Col. 3:23). As you respond in a Christlike way to angry coworkers and stressful circumstances, people will see a difference in your life."

Should we give gifts at Christmas?
Should we give gifts at Christmas?: "Answer: Many people take the idea of gift giving at Christmas back to the scripture in Matthew 2:10-11 which talks about the Magi (wise men) giving gifts to Jesus at his home: "When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. What should parents tell their children about Santa Claus?: "Answer: Although Santa Claus is a mythical figure, his creation is based in part on a great Christian man named Saint Nicholas of Myra, who lived in the 4th century. Nicholas was born to Christian parents who left him an inheritance when they died, which he distributed to the poor. He became a priest at a young age and was well-known for his compassion and generosity. TGC Mobile | Article | God Is Working Behind the Scenes in Greece: "The dull whine of the motorbike's engine was the only sound that marred an otherwise pristine setting. Though off-season for the Greek island of Aegina, this October day offered everything the throngs of tourists sought on their holiday only a few months earlier. The sun sparkled off the clear water of the Aegean, the Mediterranean breeze was light and wispy, and the temperature was such that you never noticed it. My friend Jim and I had rented motorbikes from an Albanian man who offered the best price on the island, even if they did sputter a bit. We jumped on the island's main road that runs along the coast and took in the views. Eventually we began winding up one of the many mountains toward what is said to be the jewel in the crown of Aegina---the Temple of Aphaea. We rounded the final bend, parked the bikes, and climbed up the hill towards the temple."

Why the Lost Gospels Did Not Make the Canonical Cut
Why the Lost Gospels Did Not Make the Canonical Cut: "The rejection of “other” Gospels by the proto-orthodox and orthodox church was neither arbitrary nor merely political. The reasons for rejecting them were cogent and compelling. Among the main criticisms lifted against the “other” Gospels and their authors is that: (1) The “Jesus” they set forth is not recognizable as the Jesus known in other sacred writings or congruent with apostolic tradition; (2) The “other” Gospels are often esoteric, elitist, and erroneous in what they affirm about God, creation, sin, holiness, ethics, and redemption; and (3) They do not properly have origins among Jesus’ earliest followers and are late and tendentious."
