Atheist Central -- Ray Comfort's Blog: "'Could Living Waters spare some money for the Japanese Red Cross, or another good charity? I know 'give' isn't your first reaction to tragedy (that would be 'exploit'), but the Japanese people need help, right now, and they're not going to be too concerned about the character of whom it comes from.'"

Harvest Daily Devotion for 3/15/2011: "Genuine Imitations"
An oxymoron basically is a figure of speech that combines contradictory terms, like "jumbo shrimp," "virtual reality," "friendly fire," and "found missing." Then there is one of my favorites: "fresh frozen." You might go into a restaurant and ask, "Is this fish fresh?"

As I sat in the van with the Living Waters team, I prayed that God would get the 12 of us to the Louisiana Transformed Conference safely, and that He would give us “divine encounters.” I wanted the cross paths with people He had well-prepared--similar to the well-prepared woman at the well, in John chapter four.

Stone the Preacher

Stone the Preacher
Last week I had the opportunity to attend the “Shepherds’ Conference,” an inspiring, equipping event hosted by Grace Community Church, which had over 3,000 pastors and leaders in attendance. It was refreshing and exhilarating to hear the Word of God preached accurately, God exalted highly, and His Son, Jesus, worshiped rightly

An atheist can't blame God for the earthquake that recently took so many lives in Japan. As much as he would like to, he can't say "God-did-it!" because he thinks there's no evidence for God. Blaming Him for it would make as much sense as his blaming Snow White for a snow storm.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Christian News, The Christian Post

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Christian News,

In today’s verses, John wants us to know “that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God” (v. 31). But why is it so important that we believe He is God’s Son? The most obvious reason is because our salvation, and therefore our eternal destiny, depends upon our faith in this truth. But after salvation, Christ’s divine identity should continue to affect us.

Imagine if I planted a tree in my front yard, but after awhile, I decided it would look better in my backyard. Then after a few months, I realized it would be better in the front yard. So I dig it up and plant it again in the front yard. Not only will that tree fail to flourish, but it also will struggle to just survive.

Are the Sabbath laws binding on Christians today?

Are the Sabbath laws binding on Christians today?: "We believe the Old Testament regulations governing Sabbath observances are ceremonial, not moral, aspects of the law. As such, they are no longer in force, but have passed away along with the sacrificial system, the Levitical priesthood, and all other aspects of Moses' law that prefigured Christ. Here are the reasons we hold this view."

The Hymns That Keep on Going | Christianity Today | A Magazine of Evangelical Conviction: "There are many ways to identify the most lasting or best loved hymns among American Protestants. But what would we find by looking at all 28 hymnals published by mainline Protestant denominations from the late 1800s to the present? Out of almost 5,000 hymns, how many would appear in all 28 hymnals?"

Fight All Your Battles on Your Knees

Fight All Your Battles on Your Knees
Have you ever experienced a battle so deep and overwhelming it felt as if everything in your life were against you? Do you, in a very personal way, know what it is to face a seemingly no-win situation that appears impossible to overcome?

Shine Your Light or Hide Your Hand - Desiring God

Shine Your Light or Hide Your Hand - Desiring God

Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16 ESV)

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. (Matthew 6:3-4 ESV)

A friend recently posed these two verses to me and asked, “So when do you tell others about your good deeds and when do you not?”

Atheist Central -- Ray Comfort's Blog: No Atheists in an Earthquake
Earthquakes have been on my mind recently; not just because of New Zealand and Japan's recent killer quakes, but because I read a first-hand account from a friend who was in the Christchurch when it struck. That frightening account convinced me that the many quakes I had been in were nothing but "tremors."

People will endlessly debate the whole issue of election: Who is chosen? Who is not chosen? How are they chosen? But all too often, no one will ever ask why they were chosen. Jesus said, "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain . . . " (John 15:16). Why were believers chosen by God? They were chosen to bring forth fruit.

Did Jesus Claim to Be the Only Way to Heaven? - What Jesus Said about Himself: "One of the best ways to understand someone is to find out what he thinks about himself. Jesus said many, many things about who He was — He said that He is the Son of God (Matthew 16:16-17), that He and the Father are one (John 10:30), and that the Father is the One who sent Him (John 5:37)."

What do you recommend saying to someone who tells you this?"

Atheist Central -- Ray Comfort's Blog: "If your child denies that you exist, I think it would be wise to take him to a good child psychiatrist. If you clothed, fed, and educated him, and even gave him his own room, taught him right from wrong, loved him and nurtured him, and he denied that you exist, he certainly needs evaluation or he's just plain rebellious to a point of being really weird. Either way, you should make that trip to the psychiatrist."

The Daily Spurgeon: This is what we wait for...: "The pure motive of any man who serves his generation well is generally misrepresented. As a rule the lounger looks on at the laborer not to praise but to blame him: not to cheer him but to chide him. The less he does, the less he will be open to rebuke, and the more he does oftentimes, and the more vigorously, the more he shall be upbraided."

Made to Make a Difference

Made to Make a Difference
“When your grandchildren discover you lived during a day in which 1.75 billion people were poor and one billion people were hungry, how will they judge your response?” Several years ago, this question was posed to Max Lucado, and it kept him up at night. The profound implications of staggering need made the pastor/author ask some questions of his own: “What if we rocked the world with hope?

Courage in the Lonely Hour

Courage in the Lonely Hour
Loneliness is one of life’s most painful experiences. Since God created us as relational beings, the absence of companionship can be very discouraging. At some point, all of us have probably dealt with feelings of isolation. But it’s especially difficult when we’re going through a trying situation and there is no one to help or encourage us.

Will there be any sin or sorrow in heaven?

Will there be any sin or sorrow in heaven?
No! Heaven will be so dramatically different from the present world that to describe it requires the use of negatives, as well as positives. To describe what is totally beyond human understanding also requires pointing out how it differs from present experience.
