Harvest Daily Devotion for 5/16/2011: "Storms that Perfect": "Some storms in our lives are not the result of our disobedience to God; they are the result of our obedience to Him. A good example of this is Job. What was Job doing wrong when all of those calamities befell him? Nothing."

Does hell really exist?

Does hell really exist?: "There has been a lot of talk lately about the existence of hell and if it is really forever. In a recently written book by Michigan mega church pastor Rob Bell, Bell states that if hell exists, it can't be for eternity. He says that in the end, after death, everyone will have another chance to follow Christ and they will take it and repent, and in the end Everyone will end up in heaven. This kind of false teaching is foolish and extremely dangerous."

Harvest Daily Devotion for 5/13/2011: "Storms that Correct"

Harvest Daily Devotion for 5/13/2011: "Storms that Correct": "Storms will come in life in the form of a hardship or crisis or even tragedy. There will be times when we can anticipate the storm, when we see the clouds start to darken and hear the thunder in the distance. At other times, a storm will arrive unexpectedly. But there is no getting around the fact that we will go through storms."

On The Box

On The Box: "One of the most moving stops during my tour of Israel was our visit to Yad Vashem, Israel's Holocaust Museum and Memorial. Yad Vashem is Hebrew for 'a place and a name,' and is taken from Isaiah 56:5. The national museum and memorial is a place of remembrance of not only the Holocaust itself, but also a place where visitors can meet the people who suffered and died during this world tragedy."

On The Box: "Our first stop of the day was our worst stop of the day. Frankly, it was the worst stop of the entire trip. It was our trip to what is called the Dome of the Rock. The Dome of the Rock, which is a shrine and not a mosque, represents the Islamic desecration of God's Holy Hill--the Temple Mount (Mount Moriah) and the former site of the three Jewish temples--the Solomonic, the Second, and the Herodian."

Is Hell Really Endless?

Is Hell Really Endless?: "One view of hell that seems to be making a strong resurgence today among evangelicals is Annihilationism. There are slight variations, but it essentially teaches God will eventually snuff every unbeliever out of existence. Some Annihilationists make room for divine wrath, but they don’t allow it to extend beyond the lake of fire."

On The Box: The Tragedy of the Valley of Jehoshaphat: "Jesus spent forty days with His disciples and others, after His resurrection. The last day He was with them, the disciples asked Him when He would restore the Kingdom of Israel. He reminded them that only the Father knows the time of the Lord's return. But He also comforted them by assuring them that the Helper, the Holy Spirit, would come upon them and they would be His witnesses to the uttermost parts of the Earth (Acts 1:4-8)."

Why forgive?

Why forgive?: "It has been said that we are most like beasts when we kill, we are most like men when we judge, but we are most like God when we forgive.

We don't do a lot of forgiving today. It may have been a while since you last saw a movie that celebrated forgiveness. But you probably have seen quite a few that celebrated vengeance and payback. Our culture doesn't like to forgive. We just get mad. And more than getting mad, we like to get even."

Will everyone (eventually) make it to heaven? Jesus didn’t think so.: "Rob’s book constantly casts doubt on the notion that there is a hell that will be full of people suffering for eternity. Others have cast doubt on that by speaking of anihilationtsm, where people’s suffering is not eternal, but the consequences are. With that view the unsaved pass out of existence at some point in the future."
