CompassionArt | Freebies: "When you sing a song in church it actually makes money. A royalty is paid to CCLI, the global body that oversees the process. They take out a small percentage to cover their administration costs and then pass the remainder of the royalty onto the songwriters publisher who take a cut themselves and then pass what remains to the writer of the song who then splits it with a management team."

Greg Laurie Daily Devotions - Greg Laurie Daily Devotion - Sept. 29, 2010 - Christian Devotional
Greg Laurie Daily Devotions - Greg Laurie Daily Devotion - Sept. 29, 2010 - Christian Devotional: "A happy person will be a holy person, because Jesus said, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God" (Matthew 5:8). But who could ever be pure in heart? You can. I can. We must understand what this statement means. By pure in heart, Jesus is not saying that we can never have an impurity in our hearts and never be inconsistent. Otherwise, we all would be disqualified, because the Bible clearly teaches "the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked" (Jeremiahs 17:9)."

Discover the Book, with Dr. John Barnett - Discover the Book - Mar. 18, 2010 - Christian Devotional: "Have you really heard what Jesus said? He reminds us; don't just do the physical regimens of getting "bread" or physical preparation for life. He says there is an entire spiritual regimen that must not be neglected. We need to renew our souls as well as our bodies; we need to plug in and recharge our spiritual batteries for living another day."

5 questions Christians should ask themselves before logging on | @stickyJesus: "What’s my plan and purpose for being online? Are you wandering around aimlessly, casually posting minus a biblical filter? Are you chatting on and on without a point? Stop. Be quiet. Pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to anoint you with a purpose and lead you in a plan for your online time."

10 actions that kids learn from their parent’s marriage: "Yes, there are times when we’ve talked specifically about marriage (either ours or ones that our kids have observed). But, for the most part, Cathy and I have been wise enough to know that our kids are constantly watching and learning from us. Our actions (both good and bad) are always teaching them about marriage."

Mormonism Is Not Christianity - Christian foundations - Christianity.com
Mormonism Is Not Christianity - Christian foundations - Christianity.com: "It appears that some in the news media are pronouncing Glenn Beck, a Mormon, the new leader of America's Christian conservative movement, and many Christian conservatives seem to have no problem with that.
But are Mormons "Christians" as defined by traditional Christian orthodoxy? The answer to that question is easy and straightforward, and it is "no." Nevertheless, even as the question is clear, the answer requires some explanation."

Famous Last Words - sermon by Dr. Ray Pritchard - January 1991: "January 1991 – It didn’t happen in Chicago, so it wasn’t a day like this. Cold, wet, snowy, slippery and watch your step. No, it didn’t happen here so it wasn’t on a day like this. In fact it was on a day about as different from this day as a day could be. It happened in Palestine. In Galilee. Two thousand years ago."

What does the Bible say about self-discipline?
What does the Bible say about self-discipline?: "Answer: Self-discipline is essentially the same as self-control, one of the nine fruits of the Spirit listed by Paul in Galatians 5:22-23. The KJV translation uses the word “temperance” in place of self-control which, like self-discipline, generally refers to our ability to control or restrain ourselves from all kinds of feelings, impulses, and desires, which includes the desire for physical and material comfort. Now, even though self-control is the last of the spiritual fruits mentioned by Paul, and even though it is a term not used extensively in the Bible, self-control is clearly an indispensable attribute of the Christian life, especially as our unredeemed flesh sometimes causes us to succumb to the persistent tug of our sinful desires."

What was the reason behind Peter's denial of Jesus?
What was the reason behind Peter's denial of Jesus?: "Answer: The story of Peter’s threefold denial of Christ is found in all four Gospel accounts: Matthew 26:69-74, Mark 14:66-72, Luke 22:55-62, and John 18:15-18, 25-27. But why would the chief of the disciples, the one closest to Jesus, deny even knowing Him? There were two main reasons why Peter denied Jesus: weakness and fear."

What does the Bible say about honor?
What does the Bible say about honor?: "Answer: As a noun, “honor” in the Bible means esteem, value, or great respect. To honor someone is to value them highly or bestow value upon them. The Bible exhorts us to express honor and esteem toward certain people: our parents, the aged, and those in authority"

The Only Source of Wisdom
The Only Source of Wisdom: "The twentieth century produced an information explosion unparalleled in human history-instant access to volumes of knowledge at the click of your mouse. Yet with all we have learned and with all that's been written, man's wisdom is still impotent to answer life's most basic spiritual questions like: How did we get here? Where do I go when I die? What is the meaning of life?"

The "Age of Accountability": "I think the best way to answer that is to say this: There is no "age of accountability" identified in Scripture, as such. There is nothing in the Bible that says, "Here is the age and from here on you are responsible!" "

It’s easy to see how men like the early pioneers of church growth (Donald McGavran, C. Peter Wagner, Robert Schuller) and their most famous disciples (Bill Hybels, Rick Warren, Joel Osteen) got it wrong."

In fact, there was a time when things like translating the Bible, eating native foods and wearing native clothing, and learning to appreciate the cultural interests and activities of the people among whom you lived as a missionary didn’t require fancy terminology to validate it (like contextualization or redeeming the culture); it was just good common sense."
